ICE Collects Millions of Voter Records

It will bear remembering what uses this government makes of our voter information.

ICE has obtained more than 50 million voter records from the Justice Department as part of its search for noncitizens who may have registered or voted illegally.

Internal records released yesterday (10/7/26) by Democracy Forward show ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations received 50.6 million records from Justice.

And another 48.4 million came through independent sources associated with election denier Heather Honey, a senior Homeland Security official known for making false claims that Pennsylvania had more votes than voters in the 2020 election.

According to the documents, ICE has been analyzing voter data to generate investigative leads. Internal papers also show plans to enter voter data from six states into ELITE, a Palantir-built system ICE uses to locate people for immigration enforcement. Palantir says voter data was never actually integrated.

The Justice Department concluded back in May that it could legally share voter records with Homeland Security to identify potentially ineligible voters.

Voter rolls are becoming part of the federal immigration enforcement infrastructure. And 48 million of those records came through independent sources associated with an election-denying Homeland Security official who spent years challenging the results of the 2020 election.

It will bear remembering what uses this government makes of our voter information.
