On Monday, Donald Trump signed an executive order creating the President’s Military Spouse Commission and naming Jennifer Hegseth, wife of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, as its chair. Christie Mullin, wife of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, also serves on it.
Add them to the roster of family and friends with titles.
Charles Kushner, father of Trump’s son-in-law, serves as ambassador to France. He pleaded guilty to 18 federal counts in 2004. Trump pardoned him in 2020.
Massad Boulos, whose son is married to Trump’s daughter Tiffany, is senior adviser on the Middle East, the region where the United States is now at war.
Kimberly Guilfoyle, formerly engaged to Donald Trump Junior, serves as ambassador to Greece.
And of course Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, who leads negotiations with Iran as special envoy while his private investment fund holds six billion dollars, nearly all of it foreign money, including two billion from Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund.
Congress passed the anti-nepotism law in 1967, after President Kennedy made his brother attorney general, just to prevent things like this.
